Rest and recovery are such an important part of training and I am always looking for new ideas / things that will help my training recovery in any way.

One thing I have found that is amazing and too good not to share is Activ7 recovery oil.

What is Activ7?

Activ7 is a blend of seven essential oils (camphor, eucalyptus, peppermint, aloe vera, orange, lemon and rosemary) that can be massaged in to the muscles to reduce post workout soreness by encouraging blood flow which speeds up the recovery process.

How did I discover Activ7?

I discovered Activ7 at the Wild West Summer competition in Malvern (a brilliant and incredibly well organized and run competition).  Parvin who is the brains behind Activ7 was on the Kitbox stand promoting the product by letting people try the spray. This meant that every time you walked past the stand there was an amazing smell of all the essential oils and I couldn’t resist going up to see what it was all about.

When I spoke to Parvin it was clear he was very knowledgeable and very passionate about providing a quality product to the fitness and Crossfit Community.   He gave me a sample of Active7 for my back to try as we were driving back to London and sitting in a car for 3-4 hours isn’t exactly the best thing to do straight after a two day competition!  Not only did the car smell lovely, my back felt great and I went straight on to to buy myself a bottle.   Activ7 has now become a staple part of my training and recovery.

When you apply the spray you get a cold tingly sensation followed by warmth, basically its magic!  Check out the web site for a better well more scientific definition of how it works .

Bath salts a complete game changer

I didn’t really think Activ7 could get much better…. then they released the bath salts (currently only available to buy at competitions, but will be available online soon – I cannot wait).  Luckily for me, Parvin sent me a sample of the bath salts.  I tried them after completing 17.4 (a very bright idea as it was the first CrossFit workout I have done for six months if not longer) followed by a seven hour plane ride back to the UK.  It is safe to say I was suffering quite a bit after this…however, the package with the sample was waiting for me when I got home.  What an epic delivery to arrive home to (yes I am fairly easy to please).

These bath salts are amazing. They have the same wonderful smell as the spray (meaning the bathroom smelled fantastic) and they are accompanied by the same tingly is it hot is it cold feeling as the spray.  This is a little bit strange when you are in a hot bath, however my hamstrings and back instantly felt so much better afterwards.  Again, I don’t know how they work but they do and I am also going to put it down to magic!
